We were contracted to work on the Working Men’s College in Camden in North London. The college is one of the oldest adult education facilities in the country and was in need of a major electrical overhaul. However, work could only be conducted at certain times to not disrupt teaching.
Our electricians were more than up to the task. We worked during the holidays and at weekends over the course of six months to complete this project. Our electricians installed second fix lighting and containment for power and data wiring.
We worked in classrooms, offices, staircases, corridors, toilets, and a canteen, all spread over nine floors of the building. The scale of the job meant that some areas were difficult to access, making work difficult. We hired specialist equipment to ensure we could properly access these areas to complete the work properly and safely.
Once we had completed the installations we also fully tested and certified it to verify the quality and effectiveness of our work.
Our work massively improved the aesthetic quality of the college. Contained wiring keeps corridors and other spaces looking tidy while new lights make it look vibrant and professional. Better lighting also makes it easier for students to learn, which is especially important since WM College holds night classes. The LED lighting that we installed also saves the college money on their electricity every month. We undertook a domestic EV charger installation for a private homeowner in Bromley. Our client had purchased an electric car and needed to be able to charge it at home. We advised on which model was suitable for their home and agreed on the ideal location for the charger.
Brombick electricians wired an 8mm NYY cable from the fuse board to the charging point. We mounted and connected the EV charger and connected it to the fuse board. We then tested and commissioned the charger. This ensured that it is both functioning properly and is safe to use.
The homeowner wanted the cable to be concealed as much as possible. We were able to deliver this by core drilling through the wall. This required the use of specialist equipment – a diamond core drill bit – to ensure the cable would be hidden while still preserving the material of the wall.
The project took a total of five hours including the commissioning. Once it was complete, our client had a fully functional and ready-to-use EV charger that provides efficient charging four times cheaper than a public charging point.
Brombick Electrical took on a full require for a two-bedroom maisonette in Petts Wood. We spent two and a half weeks at the property installing new wiring in order to conform with updated regulations. This was a highly delicate and involved process but was also an opportunity for our client to update the safety and aesthetic of their home.
Our electricians designed the layout for the power with the client, listening to their needs and requirements. This included not only technical specifications but also aesthetic concerns. By agreeing this beforehand, we were able to come up with a detailed plan for the project that met our client’s needs.
From there we completed a full rewire, replacing all of the wiring and upgrading the equipment. This also included second fix sockets and lights, with modern LED bulbs that enhanced the look of the property. The client had specific requirements for the new light fittings, which we happily accommodated by sourcing and installing them.
During the project it became apparent that we’d have to make chases – channels for the cables – in concrete ceilings. To accomplish this, we utilised a specialist diamond chaser which enabled us to deliver the best result for the homeowner.
We also tested and certified that the new system was safe and effective, giving the homeowner peace of mind and ensuring that our work was up to the highest standard. Our client now had a modern and compliant electrical system fitted to an excellent technical standard and enhanced the aesthetic qualities of the property.
